We welcomed two new members of staff to the charity this year:
Connie Rachael as Clerical Assistant, who will be helping to maintain an efficient office by entering data for our monitoring and evaluation system.
Michelle Smith as Family Coordinator, who is supervising the support given by volunteers to families in the Stroud District. Michelle is also helping to pioneer the service in Quedgeley and Kingsway of Gloucester.
Visit Westonbirt Charities Fair on 25th and 26th October 2016 at the prestigious Westonbirt School in Gloucestershire where you will find:
Fashion, Accessories, Jewellery, Home-ware, Gourmet Food, Stocking Fillers, Children’s Gifts, a new Restaurant, Free Demonstrations and much more.

Harriet Walker is one of our longest standing home visiting volunteers. In June she and her husband cycled the 300 miles to Paris to raise funds for Home-Start. You can find out more about her sponsorship result at: www.totalgiving.co.uk/mypage/nailsworthtoparis2016
Harriet is also keen to advertise the need for more volunteers to join the Home-Start programme. ‘It’s been an incredibly rewarding 15 years, and I would highly recommend it. But you don’t have to do the cycling – unless you want to!’
Harriet was nominated as a trustee of Home-Start and so is now helping to govern the charity.
The volunteers’ preparation course will start in September 2016.
The free course will run for 10 weeks every Thursday on one day of the week from Thursday 22nd September to Thursday 8th December excluding the school holidays.
Each training session will begin at 10a.m. and run until 2.30p.m.
The course will be held in Quedgeley Village Hall, 208 Bristol Road, Quedgeley, GL2 4PE. Free parking is available at the rear of the hall. All travel expenses will be reimbursed.
Families supported by Home-Start Stroud District had a fun time together on 14th June. The Arkell Community Centre is an idea venue to meet up as the children played outside as well as enjoying the craft, face painting, storytelling and party games inside.
Children, parents, volunteers, staff and community members enjoyed the buffet lunch. We were grateful to receive and enjoy donations from Bottle Green.
